“I could tell you my adventures—beginning from this morning,” said Alice a little timidly; “but it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”
~Alice, Alice in Wonderland
I love the story Alice in Wonderland. It’s a really good story, but I kinda think the author may have been a little high when he wrote his Alice Adventures. I think my favorite character in the story is the Mad Hatter. He is the most interesting characters in the whole story in my version of Alice Adventures. The Queen of Hearts is another favorite of mine. She’s a bit bloodthirsty though… “Off with their heads!” lol
The above quote is one of my favorites and rings true for me. I could continue to share my past, but why? You can read it on my about page on my blog and move on from there. I can share it with you once or twice, but any more than that is dwelling. It’s better to move forward to the future than to fall backward to the past. Living in the past and learning from the past are two different things.
Living vs Learning from the Past
Living in the past means you dwell on what is in your past while learning from the past means you learn from what happened, adjust, move forward, and take the lessons with you but leaving the pain behind. So, I could tell you my adventures beginning from my early years, but what would be the point? It’s no use going back to yesterday because back then I was a different person from today.
However, I do look at myself from then and compare myself with now; I see a whole new person. A woman who sticks to her boundaries while accepting others for who they are. I see a woman who doesn’t fall over when someone tells her to or lets anyone control her without being on her terms. Even though I am a babygirl and sub, I see a woman who doesn’t like to conform to labels because to do so will limit my potential growth. And I see a woman who will stand up for herself even if it hurts a lot and she loses a friend.
But above all, I see a woman who is, while still being shy at times, not afraid to take a chance and make herself vulnerable. This post wasn’t going to become a reflection on my thoughts but it seems the quote above set me on that path thinking about what it really means. I am proud of who I have become, but I still have a long way to go. Anyway, as always, see below for my credits and Flickr for a full resolution version! Laters, Adventurites! ~LA
