Earlier this month, I started writing affirmations for use when my anxiety kicks in and I need to calm myself. Things like “It’s okay to not be okay” and “I am human, I am not perfect. I will fall and that is okay.” I have more but they’re deeply personal so I’m not going to share what my affirmations are exactly. These affirmations have been a lifesaver this month as I have waded through a murky emotional roller coaster.
For one, October 13th is the anniversary of Robin leaving me forever… while she may “just be a cat” to some people, she was my furry best friend for almost 17 years. I am still struggling with her loss. I knew she was going to leave me eventually but it is still hard at times when I miss the things she did or the cats who were left behind run from me as if I’m going to pull their little tails. (Yes, they are jerks…haha).
Then I have my RL dad who is barely eating anymore. We give him his food but he only eats a few bites and then refuses the rest. We continually try regardless. We’re also going to take him to a new doctor soon for better treatment. This is just some of my struggles this month… it doesn’t include medical or other emotional struggles. I’ll be glad when October transitions to November. Just SAYING!

Your affirmations sound like they are helping. That’s GREAT!
When I am going through a rough patch, I MAKE myself write five things down every night before bed that I am grateful for that day. At first, I didn’t think that advice would make much of a difference, but boy was I wrong. It became a soothing ritual to end those rough days and settled my mind a bit.
I hope November brings you brighter days and lots of reasons to smile.
