Roses come in many colors but the color that speaks volumes is red. Red is a symbol for strength, passion, and love. Its deep, beautiful, regal color symbolizes the inner strength it often takes to rise above negativity and drama. I am exhausted and I feel like my readers can feel the tired in my words. I’m tired of being a doormat for people to wipe their feet on and take advantage of my kindness. I’m tired of being belittled because I am a woman who is in leading positions.
People have forgotten what it means to be kind to others and how to treat people with respect. We live in a world where respect is expected rather than given freely. We should not live with the intent to expect something in return when we give, but give with the understanding that we will be provided everything we need in return. This picture represents that inner strength that I think many women seem to have to display. We are all kinds of soft on the outside, but on the inside, under the gowns and makeup and hair, we have thorns.
Women are made of all kinds of shapes, sizes and intellect. We’re stronger than we look and when push comes to shove, we know how to get things done. Yes, I am a babygirl, but I am not a pushover. Yes I am kind, honest and take others feelings into account, but those qualities have limits. When you disrespect me then expect me to react. I am human, after all. People forget that when they deal with the avatar, they are dealing with the person behind that avatar. They don’t come with two sets of emotions, one for RL and one for SL.. Though SL is a game, feelings are real and they should be respected.
There’s an old post that is passed around the Internet a lot:
That girl you called a slut in class today. She’s a virgin.
The “gay boy” you punched in the hall today. Committed suicide a few minutes ago.
The boy you called poor. He has to work every night to support his family.
That girl you pushed down the other day. She’s already being abused at home.
That girl you called fat…She’s starving herself.
The old man you made fun of cause of the ugly scars. He fought for our country.
The boy you made fun of for crying. His mother is dying.
You think you know them. Guess what? You don’t!
People need to remember that when they deal with others. You don’t realize what they could be dealing with outside of the pretense they put on for the rest of the world. Treat people with respect and with kindness. Not because its expected or earned, but because its the right thing to do.
My Outfit:
For today’s outfit, I chose the Addison dress in reds and the Chevron Red Nail appliers from Go Frock Yourself. Adding in Halona Hair from Truth Hair and very little makeup, and you have a beautiful ensemble that shouts the inner strength of the woman in the dress. Add in a crown from Zuri for a final regal touch. As always, credits and other info is below. Check out my Flickr for a full resolution version!
