I’ve been thinking about what category my blog falls under. I see a lot of applications for sponsors ask you what “category” or “genre” your blog is and it got me thinking. What if you don’t have any “one” category? When I started blogging, I wasn’t a fashion or home & gardening focused blogger. I didn’t really have a genre when I started out. I was exploring SL finding out what I liked about myself and what I liked to do. I wasn’t able to do that in RL due to no transportation and other constraints so I made the best of it by exploring in SL. I was able to go to another galaxy! Or to another time! It was a way for me to express myself in a safe and healthy way.
Over time, my blog evolved and I went from exploring SL to doing fashion posts to adding more décor and garden shots at home, learning to build scenes from my inventory and creating a story with each post. Now my blog is a combination of many things from exploring SL, fashion, home & garden, décor, vlogging, and journaling. I choose the topics I cover, the story I create with the products my amazing sponsors provide me and do it in the best light I can…whether it is a single décor shot with no one in it but a puppy or a scene of a girl waiting for Santa to arrive, falling asleep and missing him when he finally comes…it is a story that I write by way of a picture. I guess if I have to categorize my blog, I would say it is a combination of many things from exploring, fashion, home & garden, décor, and journaling. It fits for me. I guess I would say that I’m not just any one category. I am many categories and I’m learning more with every post!
